TIMELINE OF NECC:
 
  • 1983: NECC was formally incepted in ANA.
  • First donation was made to NECC in 1987 in the ANA's Toronto convention.
  • 1987-89: Fundraising dinner was held in Washington DC with the late Sir Edmund Hillary.
  • 1985(?) : Bought land in Soloman Island and sold later.
  • 1991-95: Significant amount of money was raised during the years.
  • 1992: A property with a building was bought in Fairfax County, Virginia. Zoning permit for “place of worship” was not granted and the property was sold later. >>> MORE... >>>
 
 
 

Recent Activities


Press Release

  Nepal Education and Cultural Center (NECC), Washington DC, held the Town Hall Meeting on March 13, 2011. The meeting was aimed to share NECC’s to-date status along with financial details and to interact with community members. The meeting was started with NECC related documentary presentation prepared by the Sagarmatha Television.
During the meeting, Mr. Durga Rimal, senior member of the community, inaugurated the NECC’s website WWW.NECCUSA.ORG. Mr. Ram C. Kharel, Communication Director of NECC who took the lead to develop this web site walked through the web portal and demonstrated the features to the audiences in the meeting.
The following NECC authorities made the presentation on their respective areas of responsibilities:
1. Financial report: CPA Hari Sharma and Netra Ghising
2. Community Hall rental guidelines and policy: Krishna Prajapati and Saroj Prajapati
3. Property status: Krishna Nirola and Kabindra Sitoula
4. NECC history and future plans: Dr. Shyam Karki and Khilendra Neupane
5. By-Laws (Existing and new proposed): Hari Sharma, Simon Dhungana and Prem Sangraula.
Ram Chandra Bhattarai and Ram Prasad Khanal expressed their views on behalf of the Chantilly and Manassas area committees respectively. Also, Rajan Adhikari, Nakul Rayamajhi, Laxman Baral, Bijay Thapa, Parshuram and Yashoda Bhandari shared their ideas and offered their inputs and suggestions. At the end, NECC authorities clarified on the queries raised during the program.
NECC Team would like to express a big thanks to the following donors who made their generous cash donation during the meeting:

Nakul Rayamajhi - $365.00 (A dollar a day commitment) and
Laxman/Urmila Baral - $125.00
On Behalf of the NECC/Nepal Pashupati and Buddha Mandir, Dr. Mahendra Karki, the Chairman of the NECC, provided the marriage certificate to Parshuram Bhandari, the father of the bride Sushma Bhandari. Sushma wed to Pradip Dhakal on March 12, 2011 at the NECC temple. The program was moderated by NECC Secretary Khilendra Neupane.
NECC Teams also extends it thanks to Accrual Accounting Firm for sponsoring the refreshment in the event. Lekhnath Bhandari, Rajani Shrestha, and Bijay Thapa deserve special thank for hall arrangement and set up. NECC would like to thank Sagarmatha Television, Nepalhorizons.com, Nepalmediacafé.com, Nepalipost.com, Nepalmother.com and other media for their support. Last but not least, our special thanks go to all the participants and representatives from various organizations without their support, program would have no meaning.
